EnviroFry Stops Fraudulent Mold Testing by Insurance Companies, Sellers, Landlords, & Employers

Industrial Hygienists Phillip and Divine Fry explain how to protect mold-sick insurance policyholder claimants, real estate buyers, rental tenants, and employees against dishonest and distorted mold testing sometimes done on behalf of property and casualty insurance companies, real estate sellers and realtors, landlords, and employers.

Montrose, MI, February 09, 2014 -- “Intentionally-fraudulent mold testing to either increase or decrease reported mold spore or mold colony counts in mold lab reports is much more common than mold victims such as insured water damage claimants, home buyers, tenants, and employees expect or know about,” warn Phillip and Divine Fry, Professional Industrial Hygienists, Certified Environmental Hygienists, and Certified Mold Inspectors.

The Frys’ international EnviroFry firm provides mold inspection, removal, remediation, and prevention services in Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, nationwide USA, Canada, China, and southeast Asia.

“Dishonest mold inspectors can distort mold test lab results upwards in order to justify unnecessary mold removal and remediation bids that the inspectors make to remediate mold problems that either don’t exist or are overly-exaggerated in severity and extent,” points out Mr. Fry, who is author of five mold advice books available at www.moldmart.net and executive director of the association www.moldvictimrights.com.

Similarly, unethical mold inspectors can skew mold test results downward to minimize mold spore and mold colony counts and therefore downsize actual mold health threats to enable their insurance company, home seller or realtor, landlord, or employer clients to shirk and escape their responsibility to provide fair insurance claim payment, mold-safe housing, and environmentally-safe workplaces.

“Dishonest mold inspectors have many ways to distort mold test results, such as submitting to the mold analysis laboratory surface mold samples and air mold samples from a low-mold environment that is actually another home or building, instead of from the actual home or commercial building that was supposed to be inspected professionally and accurately,” explains Mr. Fry, webmaster since 1999 of the 300 page mold information website www.moldinspector.com.

Likewise, because mold air tests, such as done with an air sampling pump connected to an air testing cassette, require a precise, reported-to-the-lab test time duration of five minutes at the recommended, selected, and calibrated air intake rate of 15 liters of air per minute, unethical mold inspectors can wrongfully increase or decrease collected and reported mold spore counts by such fraudulent practices as: (1) making the actual test time duration less than, or greater than, the reported five minute test duration; (2) setting the air pump at an air intake rate that is less than, or greater than, the reported 15 liters of air per minute; and (3) partially covering or closing the air intake chute of the air testing cassette.

In addition, dishonest mold inspectors can take surface or air samples in house or commercial building areas that they know will have no or minimal mold growth.

Learn the steps and procedures involved in objective and honestly-conducted mold inspections and mold testing at www.buildingmoldinspection.com.

Insured policyholders, property owners and managers, property buyers, rental tenants, and employees can protect themselves against fraudulent mold test results by taking the following five steps:

1. Hire only an experienced and trained Professional Industrial Hygienist, Certified Environmental Hygienist, or Certified Mold Inspector, for whom you have checked his or her client references, Better Business Bureau record, and Angie’s List website. Visit the mold inspector directory www.certifiedmoldinspectors.com.

2. Pay for your own professional and independent mold inspection and testing and never, ever rely upon the honesty and truthfulness of mold inspection reports and testing that have been paid for by parties who have a financial interest adverse to your own, such as a landlord if you are a tenant, home seller if you are the buyer, employer if you are an employee, or insurance company if you are making an insurance claim for water and mold damage.

3. When any mold inspector, whether hired by you or not, does his or her mold inspection and testing, accompany the inspector to watch over exactly how and where the mold tests are taken. Make sure that surface sampling and air testing actually done match the entries of the mold samples logged on to the mold lab’s chain of custody form, such as the test’s time duration and air flow rate per minute.

4. During the mold inspection, take many pictures of the inspector in action, as well as close up pictures of all discovered and documented water intrusion and mold damage to both the building and its contents.

5. Have the mold laboratory chain of custody prepared in your presence, and then you and the inspector jointly deliver the mold samples and chain of custody in a sealed FedEx or Post Office express or priority mail envelope to the FedEx pickup driver or FedEx office, or U.S. Post Office for direct delivery to the official mold lab address.

Toxic Mold Public Health Warning Issued Worldwide by Mold Experts Phillip and Divine Fry

Professional Industrial Hygienists Phillip and Divine Fry warn homeowners, rental tenants, employers, and employees to be aware of the severe health problems that they can suffer as the result of exposure to elevated levels of indoor toxic mold growth.

Montrose, MI, February 07, 2014 -- On February 7, 2014, Professional Industrial Hygienists, Certified Environmental Hygienists, and mold consultants Phillip and Divine Fry issued a worldwide toxic mold health warning to wake up homeowners, commercial building owners, employers, and rental tenants to the extreme health dangers of their exposure to elevated levels of toxic mold growth in their houses, condominiums, apartments, commercial buildings, and workplaces.

Since 1999 the Frys and their international firm EnviroFry have provided mold inspection, testing, removal, and remediation nationwide in the USA, Canada-wide, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The Frys’ alert asks residential and commercial property owners and tenants everywhere in the world to ask themselves these six key home and workplace mold investigation questions:

1. Is your home or workplace part of the fifty percent (50%) of all occupied buildings that have hidden toxic mold growth inside heating/air conditioning equipment and ducts, walls, ceilings, floors, carpeting, attic, crawl space, basement, garage, and furnishings?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that half of all USA homes have a serious mold problem. The mold infestation percentage is far higher than fifty percent in many Asian nations.

2. Do any of your family members, employees, or work associates suffer any of these chronic (on-going) mold health problems that have been identified by the U.S. government and mold doctors as the top mold illnesses---tiredness, depression, headaches, memory problems, mental reasoning problems, feeling disconnected from the world around you, asthma, allergies or allergic reactions, upper respiratory problems, wheezing, coughing, sneezing, difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, eye symptoms, fungal infections, skin rashes or open sores?

3.Does your home or workplace now have (or in the past) roof leaks, siding leaks, plumbing leaks, air conditioning condensation drip pan or drain pipe leaks, window leaks or condensation, or other water intrusion problems?

4. Do any of your bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans or dryer vent into walls, ceilings, floors, basement, crawl space, or anywhere other than directly to the outdoors?

5. Have you not thoroughly cleaned out the insides of your window or wall air conditioners and/or central air conditioning equipment and ducts at least quarterly or semi-annually?

6. Have had no mold inspection and mold testing of the house, condominium, apartment, or workplace in the past year by a qualified mold professional?

If a homeowner, commercial building owner, employer, or rental tenant answers “yes” to one or more of these questions, the property owner or occupant’s family or employees would benefit health-wise from a thorough physical mold inspection and mold testing of the home or workplace and its heating/cooling system by a Professional Industrial Hygienist, Certified Environmental Hygienist, and/or Certified Mold Inspector. Visit the worldwide hygienist and inspector directory www.certifiedmoldinspectors.com.

Learn all about toxic mold health, mold testing, and mold removal at www.moldinspector.com, which has provided 300 pages of mold information online since 1999. EnviroFry co-manager Phillip Fry is the author of five mold advice ebooks available for purchase online at www.moldmart.net.

To schedule your home or workplace’s mold inspection and testing anywhere in the USA or Canada, please email Mr. Fry phil@moldinspector.com or phone him toll-free (USA and Canada) 1-866-300-1616, or visit the EnviroFry website www.moldexpertconsultants.com.

"The Last Days of Che Guevara" Marks Another Milestone for Red Quill Books

Ottawa, Canada, February 05, 2014 -- Red Quill Books is the little press that could. Founded in 2009, at the height of the Great recession, the alternative press is about to celebrate its fifth year of operation with over two-dozen titles. The publishing house was set up with the mission of creating a new space for disseminating critical ideas in creative ways. Five years on, Red Quill Books (RQB) is prospering largely due to the success of its wildly successful “radical comix” series which includes a manga version of Das Kapital, a four-part series on the Communist Manifesto (available in four languages), and a new biographical comic entitled “The Last Days of Che Guevara” released last month.

“It’s no secret that our success is largely due to the comic book series,” says George Rigakos, head of RQB’s Editorial Collective. “We have also stayed true to our core mission of maintaining a green, print-on-demand model and actively supporting student scholarships.” Indeed, Red Quill’s success is even more remarkable given that the press has not accepted a penny of state assistance in an industry dominated by large university presses that are heavily dependent on government subsidies. “We don’t want to be beholden to any interest that might undermine our mission,” says Rigakos, “we can’t start compromising on that.” As a result, the little press has remained fiercely independent, supporting provocative titles and experimenting with comic books as a way to distinguish itself from the rest of the academic market.

Red Quill’s latest project is “The Last Days of Che Guevara: A Graphic Novel,” an accessible and engaging introduction to the life and mythology of what is arguably history’s most well known revolutionary. The biographical comic begins with Ernesto Guevara’s capture in October 1967, tracing the power of his legacy through his engagements with central figures of that tumultuous period. The biography is the English translation of the Italian biographical comic by Rizzo and Bonaccorso. “Once I set my eyes on the Italian version,” said Rigakos “I knew we had to make it a Red Quill title.”

What’s next for Red Quill Books? “We want to do even more,” says Rigakos. “More scholarships for students studying social justice, more radical comix to aid students and general audiences understanding critical ideas, more academic texts that push boundaries. That’s what we’re all about.”

California Home Seller Fails To Disclose Big Toxic Mold Problems To Texas Buyers, Reports EnviroFry

Industrial Hygienist Phillip Fry of EnviroFry reports that a California home seller, realtor, home inspector, and mortgage lender are going to be sued by the home’s Texas buyers for failing to disclose the presence of elevated levels of toxic mold growth in both the crawl space and in the heating/cooling equipment and ducts.

Montrose, MI, February 04, 2014 -- On January 31, 2014, a couple, newly-arrived from Texas and now very ill from living in high levels of toxic mold, learned in reading mold lab test results of mold tests taken by Professional Industrial Hygienist and Certified Mold Inspector Phillip Fry of EnviroFry that their recently-purchased home in San Diego, California, is severely infested with seller-undisclosed, advanced toxic mold growth throughout the home’s large crawl space and in the heating/cooling equipment and ducts.

Through six indoor tests on Jan. 30th, Fry tested the crawl space mold, room air, and the outward air flow from the heating/cooling air supply ducts. Lab results reported high and dangerous mold levels (compared to the outdoor mold control test) of several toxic mold species including cancer-causing Aspergillus mold and Penicillium mold, both of which cause severe respiratory and other mold health problems in mold victims exposed to elevated levels of those mold species.

“Almost all of the wood timbers in the crawl space were encrusted with mold growth that was likely to have been years in the making. The crawl space masonry walls and the adjacent basement walls and floors were very wet, as determined by widespread spot checking with my moisture meter,” reported Mr. Fry, who is also a Certified Environmental Hygienist, Certified Mold Remediator, webmaster since 1999 of the mold information website www.moldinspector.com, and author of five mold advice ebooks available at www.moldmart.net.

“A major building defect was the lack of adequate waterproofing of the crawl space and basement walls and floors that enabled water runoff from neighboring, higher-elevation home lots and the roadway to enter into the crawl space and basement to drive mold growth,” added Mr. Fry who spent six hours carefully investigating and testing the house and its surroundings.

“Many hundreds of thousands of California and other USA and Canadian homes that are built on the sides or bottoms of hills have similar water intrusion and advanced toxic mold growth, which often grows upward into the insides of the floors and walls above,” warned Mr. Fry.

The home’s toxic mold problems have caused severe health problems for the couple, such as memory loss, headaches, chronic tiredness, sinus problems, and respiratory problems such as difficulty in breathing and frequent coughing and sneezing. Five days ago the couple’s doctor recommend that the couple move out, which they promptly did by moving into a nearby hotel.

“The couple told me that they will never return to the mold-contaminated home and that they have hired an attorney to sue the home seller, realtor, home inspector, and mortgage lender for the rescission of the home’s $500,000 purchase price, as well as for medical damages, loss of mold-contaminated furniture and possessions, and other compensatory and punitive damages,” stated Mr. Fry.

“The couple told me that the real estate agent used air fresheners and a burning candle to mask the home’s big mold smell during the couple’s visit to the home for sale. In addition, the home seller had recently installed new carpeting and laminate flooring to help conceal the house mold problems,” reported Mr. Fry.

Mr. Fry recommends that prospective home buyers and rental tenants pay for an independent and thorough mold inspection and testing of a home, condo, or apartment for sale or rent before finalizing any purchase or lease commitment.

“Especially important is to mold test the air of the attic, living area, basement, crawl space, and the outward air flow from heating/cooling duct registers, as well as to look for evidence of water intrusion and both visible and hidden mold growth,” recommended Fry whose nationwide firm EnviroFry provides mold inspection, testing, remediation and prevention services.

To schedule a home purchase or rental unit mold inspection, contact Mr. Fry by emailing phil@moldinspector.com, or phoning toll-free 1-866-300-1616 or his cell phone 1-480-310-7970, or visiting the EnviroFry website www.moldexpertconsultants.com.

Word Branch Publishing Declares February Young Adult Fiction Month

WBP is highlighting its YA novels and offering special deals all month.

Marble, NC, February 04, 2014 -- While 2014 may be the Chinese Year of the Horse, February is the Month of the Young Adult Novel at Word Branch Publishing. Over the last two years, Word Branch has published four young adult books and has at least four more planned for 2014. While several new young adult (YA) writers will be joining Word Branch this year, two familiar faces still dominate the field.

Red_Kicks.jpg
Jeri Maynard, who goes by the pen name jerjonji, will be adding two more books to the three she has published with Word Branch. Jeri specializes in writing about teens who deal with real life dilemmas: suicide, bullying, cutting and gangs to name a few themes. Her realistic characters struggle against contemporary issues, and she weaves a well-told tale that appeals to any age reader.

Jeri's newest book, Red Kicks, exemplifies her writing style and philosophy. Red Kicks exposes the realities of gang life without stereotyping characters. The characterization of gang leaders and street people as well as doctors and film producers is rich and vibrant.

A newcomer to the YA writing scene is Christina Gray. Gray's first young adult novel, Dark Dreams, captures the realism of what it is like to be a teen today and combines it with an extraordinary story of horror, courage, and new love. Gray's vivid characterization and fast-paced plot make this a must read for both teens and adults
.
Publisher Catherine Rayburn-Trobaugh says she is pleased with the sales and interest, but adds, "These aren't the stereotype of teen books. You won't find superficial love stories or simplistic plots and shallow characters. These are books that have depth and deal with profound questions that are relevant to all ages."

To encourage readers to discover YA fiction, WBP is offering a 25% discount on YA books purchased from its site for February 2014 by using the code YAMONTH at checkout. You can see all of Word Branch's young adult books at http://www.wordbranch.com/young-adult-and-children.html
