Word Branch Publishing Releases The Sad Artist and Other Fairytales

Kenyan writer, Ndiritu Wahome offers parables for a modern world.

Marble, NC, March 12, 2014 -- In Ndiritu Wahome’s first published book, he charms, tantalizes and engages his readers with a collection of fairytales for all ages. From a story-telling weaver bird to a chief’s son who finds the real value of life, Wahome leads his readers on a captivating journey that deifies time and reality yet remains relevant.

The_Sad_Artist_and_Other_Fairytales.jpg
Wahome says his “objective was to create fantasy stories, which were infused with realism in the hope of letting young children know that even though life is full of hardships, they can overcome and achieve anything they so deemed.” But peel back another layer, and The Sad Artist and Other Fairytales has a strong message that reveals “bad leadership, appalling politics, sloth and corruption” that Wahome says is too often found in contemporary African governments.

“The Sad Artist is magical realism at its best. Wahome’s fairytales are in the tradition of Salmon Rushdie, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Ben Okri,” says publisher Catherine Rayburn-Trobaugh. “Ndiritu captures the innocence of the world through a child’s eyes to make strong statements about the modern condition.”

Although the fairytales are set in a mystical version Wahome’s native Kenya, they transcend Africa for a global perspective on the realities of life in the 21st century at the crossroads of old and new. Although Wahome’s fairytales can sometimes be cautionary, he never loses hope for both humanity and its future. His world is one that “The wicked, who seem to live the good life, in the end, suffer in their demise. The good, even though exposed to a life of poverty, wretchedness, and solitude, end up living happily ever after.”

The Sad Artist and Other Fairytales is available through Word Branch Publishing, Amazon and other major online retailers as well as bookstores everywhere. For more information for wholesale or retail orders, go to http://www.wordbranch.com/the-sad-artist-and-other-fairytales.html.

A New Addition to the Bill Reyner Series

Wentworth M. Johnson is back with ‘Edinburgh Cuckoos,’ a thrilling page-turner and the third novel in his Bill Reyner Mystery Adventures series.

Edinburgh_Cuckoos.jpg
Boston, MA, March 11, 2014 -- William Reyner is a private eye who’s seen his share of trouble, and paid dearly for it. He’s uncovered the truth behind mysterious murders, saved an associate from being framed, and accomplished a series of dangerous, narrow escapes. However, he’s never faced challenges quite like those in Edinburgh Cuckoos, Wentworth M. Johnson’s new addition to his Bill Reyner Mystery Adventures series.

Bill Reyner might be described as a bit of Sherlock Holmes, a dash of Indiana Jones, and a loving grandson, all rolled into one. However, he’s determined to stop taking cases; his detective work has caused him and others he cares about far too much pain. When a former flame summons him to England, he imagines a harmless vacation is in order; however, he’s in store for a great deal of trouble.

A series of mishaps awaits Bill Reyner and his associate, North, in England; but his former flame’s new fiancée and lost passports pale in comparison to the great dangers lurking ahead. Despite his reluctance, Bill Reyner can’t help but be pulled into the investigation of a missing woman. Amongst a backdrop of picturesque Scottish castles and even more beautiful damsels, he uncovers dark secrets and a puzzle worth millions of dollars, not to mention many lives.

Bill Reyner’s journey begins as a simple case taken on during a vacation, but transforms into perhaps his most dangerous mystery yet. Wentworth M. Johnson keeps readers on the edge of their seats during Edinburgh Cuckoos, the third, thrilling installment of his Bill Reyner Mystery Adventures series.

He spent twenty- eight years there before retiring early in 2000 to concentrate on his writing, as well as his hobbies: flying scale model aircraft, playing the Bagpipes and any woodwind instrument, and collecting British postage stamps. Moms: Battling the Bathing Suit Blues? New Parenting Book Offers Help

More than 50 Mommy MD Guides, doctors who are also mothers, share their top tips to slim down, shape up, fight fatigue, boost mood, look great, and live better in The Mommy MD Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great.

The_Mommy_MD_Guides.jpg
Allentown, PA, March 07, 2014 -- Looking for credible, proven, useful weight loss tips? You’ll find more than 700 tips in The Mommy MD Guide to Losing Weight and Feeling Great, like these:
“I recently created my own diet. I call it VEGLY. I eat as many servings of vegetables, eggs, grapefruit, lean meats or Lean Cuisines, and yogurt as I want. If I stick with that all day, I earn a treat: a glass of beer or wine or a small dessert. I’ve lost six pounds so far!-“- Amy Baxter, MD, a mom of three, the CEO of Buzzy4Shots.com; and the director of emergency research, Scottish Rite, of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, in Georgia

Mommy_MD_Guides.jpg
“After my son was born, I worked with a personal trainer. He gave me a simple piece of advice that has really helped: Don’t eat any carbs after 7 pm. I try not to eat at all after 7 pm, but if I do, I’ll have something high in protein, such as a piece of cheese or a hardboiled egg.”—Shilpa Amin-Shah, MD, a mom of two and an emergency physician and director of the recruiting team at Emergency Medical Associates, in Livingston, NJ

“I have a very long commute. Because of this, I “live” in my truck several days a week, driving to and from some rather isolated areas in the Appalachian Mountains. Sometimes, after a hard day of working and driving, I’m almost tempted to pick up a slice of pizza and a bag of chips at a gas station on the way home. A trick I use to eat properly on the run is what I call my “cooler diet.” I put everything I want to eat for the day in a nice, roomy cooler. If it’s not in the cooler, I don’t get to eat it—no questions. So that means I don’t get to eat the chocolate that’s everywhere around me at work, or the yummy-looking cream-filled doughnuts that one of the nurses brings in from the doughnut shop for breakfast. I pack my cooler the night before work with lots and lots of whole and nutritious foods and beverages—apples, pears, oranges, and cut-up veggies with low-fat dip. A couple of bottles of water and some unsweetened tea. A container of yogurt, some string cheese, and a bag full of nutritious trail mix. A box of low-fat granola cereal. I pack as much food as I can fit into my cooler. The only rule I have is that the food I pack must contribute to my overall good health and support a healthy weight.”—Rallie McAllister, MD, MPH, a mom of three, a family physician, and the coauthor of The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth, in Lexington, Kentucky.

“Want to “lose” 10 pounds in an instant? Sit up straight, pull your shoulders down and back, and arch your back to get “cheerleader butt.” By pulling your shoulders down, your neck looks thinner, and with a C-curve in your lower back, your thighs and tummy look thinner. Voilà, you’ll look 10 pounds slimmer.”—Jennifer Hanes, DO, a mom of two, an emergency physician who’s board certified in integrative medicine, and the author of The Princess Plan: Shrink Your Waist, Expand Your Beauty, in Austin, TX

To create this new book, authors Rallie McAllister, MD, MPH, and Jennifer Bright Reich interviewed 50 Mommy MD Guides—doctors who are also mothers. Combined, these physicians have centuries of medical expertise, and they share the real-world parenting experiences of raising hundreds of children and dozens of grandchildren. The Mommy MD Guides are experts—squared.

The book is packed with more than 700 tips, plus Dr. McAllister’s own program Take Five! The Mommy MD Guide program for maximum weight loss success.

The book also features more than 50 favorite recipes recommended by the doctors featured in the book. These recipes are all nutritious and delicious; they’re family-tested and Mommy MD Guides-approved! All recipes were tested in the publishers’ test kitchen.

The company also publishes The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth, The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year, and The Mommy MD Guide to the Toddler Years.

Co-authors Dr. McAllister and Reich are passionate about their mission: We help moms raise healthier, happier families.

The books in the series and companion website www.mommymdguides.com all are filled with tips that Mommy MD Guides, doctors who are also mothers, use for their own families. The reassuring, trusted, and often even humorous tips in this book series are presented in the Mommy MD Guides’ own words, and each tip is clearly attributed to the doctor who lived it.

The Mommy MD Guides answer readers’ questions for free at MommyMDGuides.com. They also answer media questions, by email or phone, via the portal at media@mommymdguides.com or contact Reich directly at jenniferreich@mommymdguides.com.

Wealthy Western Australians to Enjoy New Financing Option

Western Australians can now unlock the value of their assets and get instant access to cash thanks to a new partnership between Assetline, Australia's leading personal asset lender and house + home loans (HHL), one of Australia's most successful mortgage brokerage businesses.

Assetline.jpg
Perth, March 06, 2014 -- Western Australians can now unlock the value of their assets and get instant access to cash thanks to a new partnership between Assetline, Australia's leading personal asset lender and house + home loans (HHL), one of Australia's most successful mortgage brokerage businesses.

The deal allows WA-based investors and businesses to raise finance against their assets - from art and wine collections to yachts and jewellery - to fund a new business or further investments, or to simply access cash fast.

Personal asset lending is making huge waves globally as well as in Australia, as the credit squeeze since the GFC has restricted many investors' access to funds. Assetline's solution offers high net worth individuals accessible, fast and flexible finance against high-end personal assets such as gold and silver, jewellery, diamonds, luxury watches, fine art and antiques, cars, luxury boats and fine wine collections.

WA market of key strategic importance
As the engine of Australia's growth and prosperity, Western Australia has long been considered a market of key strategic importance, according to Nick Raphaely, co-founder, Assetline.

“We are very excited to be introducing Assetline’s service to Western Australia. We've enjoyed a very successful roll-out and rapid growth on the Eastern Seaboard in 2013, but it's now time to look West and capture the prize. We are delighted to be able to partner with someone of Rael’s calibre and look forward to working with HHL to provide Assetline’s services in Perth," Nick Raphaely says.

HHL is an award-winning specialist broking firm based in Osborne Park, Perth. Its managing director Rael Bricker was ranked as a Top 10 broker of 2013 by Mortgage Professional Australia.
The deal between Assetline and HHL follows a highly successful 2013, which has seen Assetline rapidly expand throughout New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

Ideal finance tool for WA clients
HHL managing director Rael Bricker says personal asset lending is a great tool to help Western Australian clients access money in a fast and secure way.

"Assetline has a compelling business proposition - offering accessible, fast and flexible loans against valuable luxury assets. We are delighted to have been selected to work with Assetline in Western Australia and we look forward to working with them to replicate the success they have achieved on the Eastern Seaboard.”
With banks reigning in the maximum LVR allowable for residential and commercial properties, many property investors are struggling to achieve the necessary levels of gearing. Assetline’s solution – which is unique in that it’s not property-based – provides added flexibility for borrowers in these situations.

Personal asset lending allows investors to immediately unlock the value of alternative assets that conventional banks don’t recognise. Already enjoying huge growth internationally, it's predicted by analysts to become a multibillion dollar business worldwide.
