What Johnson and Johnson Doesn’t Want You to Know About Talc Cancer

Johnson and Johnson’s opportunistic behavior has resulted in two huge recent court losses. What they knew and what they did with this knowledge is shocking.

Talc_Cancer.jpg
North Little Rock, AR, May 31, 2016 -- Johnson & Johnson lost its first court battle over baby powder in 2013, when a jury found the multinational pharmaceutical company had negligently marketed talcum powder. Surprisingly, the jury did not award any compensatory or punitive damages to the plaintiff Deanne Berg, an ovarian cancer survivor. The jury reportedly doubted whether Berg’s diagnosis stemmed from perineal use of talcum powder, but they still believed Johnson & Johnson was negligent in not providing a warning label on its iconic product. (http://www.alternet.org/personal-health/does-johnson-johnsons-baby-powde...)

So what changed between 2013 and 2016, when successive juries in St Louis hammered Johnson & Johnson to the tune of $127 million? Internal documents submitted at trial provided evidence not only that Johnson & Johnson knew about the reported risks of talc but also that it specifically marketed a carcinogenic hazard to minority communities.

By 1992 there were indications that a day of reckoning was coming for the talc industry. A number of studies had identified a possible linkage between talc and ovarian cancer, including a government analysis by the National Toxicology Program. In an internal memo with the headline “Major Opportunities [and] Major Obstacles” the company acknowledged the health concerns and suggested supplementing their infant program with media programs tailored to adults. The memo recommended that Johnson & Johnson “investigate ethnic opportunities to grow the franchise.” (http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-baby-powder-cancer-lawsuits/img/b...)

The memo did not begin a dramatic shift in focus for the pharmaceutical giant. Black and Hispanic women had long been the company’s target adult demographic—at the time the memo was drafted the percentage of black and Hispanic talc users was 52% and 37.6%, respectively—but it lended credence to the theory that Johnson & Johnson was aware of the risks of talc and knowingly transferred those risks upon an unsuspecting minority population.

“Some people might say, ‘What’s wrong with companies recognizing women of color as important consumers?’” said Robin Coleman, an Afro-American Studies professor at the University of Michigan. “We do want that. But we do not want companies to market potentially carcinogenic products.” (http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-baby-powder-cancer-lawsuits/)

For years women had been told by Johnson & Johnson that “a sprinkle a day keeps the odor away,” a popular Johnson & Johnson commercial jingle that resonated with women like Jacqueline Fox. Fox, who died of ovarian cancer in 2015, was not drawn to the marketing campaign by coincidence. In a 2011 Advertising and Society Review article entitled “An Odor of Racism: Vaginal Deodorants in African-American Beauty Culture and Advertising,” Michelle Ferranti found that African-American women are almost four times as likely as Caucasian women to use genital deodorants. She argues that for freed slaves who wanted to become full-fledged members of society, genital deodorant became a critical aspect of life. Generations later, Ferranti believes that manufacturers like Johnson & Johnson are still preying and profiting off of fears that minority women will not be accepted if they do not prioritize personal hygiene more than their white contemporaries.

Over a decade after the memo suggested Johnson & Johnson investigate ethnic opportunities, the company was still trying to maximize its success among minorities. “African American consumers in particular will be a good target with more of an emotional feeling and talk about reunions among friends, etc., team up with Ebony Magazine,” suggested a Johnson & Johnson task force. The company thus plied its wares in locales typically associated with black culture, including churches, beauty salons, and barbershops. They also unsuccessfully recruited singers Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin to serve as celebrity endorsers. (http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-baby-powder-cancer-lawsuits/)

Julie Hennessy, a marketing professor at Northwestern, acknowledges that all companies cater to their most frequent clients, but she also says that for Johnson & Johnson in 2016, “. . . that looks horrible. From the outside it looks like J&J is less concerned, not more concerned, about its most loyal users because of their ethnic origin.” Two juries in St Louis have already agreed with Hennessy’s assessment. Once the dust has cleared in litigation, Johnson & Johnson might well regret ever investigating “ethnic opportunities” to market a dangerous carcinogen. (http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-baby-powder-cancer-lawsuits/)

Royal Dates Brings a New Date Variety to USA and Canada

Royal_Dates.jpg
Toronto, Ontario, May 16, 2016 -- Ajwa – The King of Dates: known for its healing properties, Ajwa is in a league of its own. Dark coloured with fine white lines, Ajwa has a distinctive flavour and subtle sweetness. Unlike medjool dates, Ajwa dates are a prized date that won’t be used in your date ball recipes.

Did you know that a new research suggests that Ajwa dates prevent cancer?

A new research says it has found evidence that the Ajwa date contains active elements useful in the prevention of diseases like cancer.

The research was carried out to discover the health benefits of Ajwa dates, which resulted in the finding that the date fruit has anti-inflammatory properties similar to commercially available drugs like ibuprofen and aspirin. So the next time you’re having a date, it’s not just for taste, it would be considered for healing.

The study found that the inhibition rate in Ajwa was equal to existing commercial anti-oxidant products available in the market. The research was published in the 61st issue of the US-based journal for agriculture and food chemistry.

Ajwa dates come in different grades. The grading system for dates is determined by the size, moistness, amount of flesh in the date and overall quality. The better the grade, the better the date and in turn the higher the cost of the date fruit.

Most people eat the Ajwa date for its spiritual and health benefits rather than leisure. Typically the recommended amount per day is 7 before you start your daily routine.

Unlike medjool date, the dark coloured Ajwa date is known for its softness, dryness and price. The next time you’re in the market looking for food for healing, try a few Ajwa dates instead of your common medjool date.

If you’re ever looking for advice on the variety of dates and what to look out for, drop us a line at info@royaldates.ca, we will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.

EnviroFry Debuts Way To Remove Mold from Carpeting & Padding in USA, Canada, Asia, & Europe

Certified Environmental Hygienist Phillip Fry's firm EnviroFry Upkeep Masters, LLC, has pioneered a moldy carpet mold remediation protocol to remove mold growth effectively from carpeting and underlying padding so that these floor coverings can be saved rather than being thrown away.
EnviroFry_Upkeep_Masters.jpg

Montrose, MI, May 17, 2016 -- Certified Environmental Hygienist Phillip Fry's firm EnviroFry Upkeep Masters, LLC, has pioneered a moldy carpet mold remediation protocol to remove mold growth effectively from carpeting and underlying padding so that these floor coverings can be saved rather than being thrown away in water-damaged homes and commercial buildings throughout the USA, Canada, China, Singapore, Asia-wide, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

“Until now the standard approach to the presence of mold growth in carpeting and padding has been to remove and replace it, a very expensive undertaking if the carpet is relatively new and of high value,” points out Mr. Fry, who is also a Professional Industrial Hygienist, Certified Environmental Inspector, Certified Remediation Specialist, and webmaster since 1999 of the mold authority website www.moldinspector.com.

Fry's company can either do the mold removal itself or sell the equipment and produces required for effective carpet mold removal anywhere in the world.

The first and last steps are the vacuuming of the carpeting with a HEPA-vacuum cleaner to suck up as many landed or deposited mold spores, mold colonies, and organic dirt as possible.

The second step is to use a high output ozone gas generator, specially built for use in carpeting and padding, to inject mold and germ-killing ozone gas deep into the top and bottom sides of the carpeting, as well as into the padding beneath it. The carpeting needs to be temporarily removed to allow ozone gas treatment of the bottom of the carpeting and of the padding.

The third step is to spray both sides of the carpeting, as well as well as the padding, with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registered fungicide as a second, backup way to kill mold spores, mold colonies, and bacteria.

“This two-step, double killing of harmful microorganisms is really essential when there has been water and mold growth in carpeting, padding, and expensive rugs,” adds Mr. Fry, who is author of five mold advice books.

The fourth step is to spray the carpeting, especially mold growth areas, with a special EPA-registered mold enzyme that dissolves and neutralizes mold growth and mold stains.

The fifth step is to scrub the carpeting with special carpeting scrub brushes to physically dislodge mold growth colonies that have been killed and neutralized by the previous steps.

To schedule carpet mold remediation or to purchase equipment and supplies for carpet mold removal in the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Asia-wide, the United Kingdom, or Europe, please email Mr. Fry at phil@moldinspector.com or phone him in the USA 1-810-639-0523 or cell 1-480-310-7970 or visit the websites www.moldexpertconsultants.com, www.envirohongkong.com, or www.mold.ph.

Remotraining – Pioneers in Remote CCNA Training

Remotraining.jpg
Toronto, May 13, 2016 -- Remotraining Solutions is an innovation hub of technologists, offering world class CCNA training solutions. What makes the program so unique is the fact that the training can be undertaken by anyone at any time, from anywhere in the world. As pioneers and innovators, the company has set new benchmarks and standards in offering remote training in various Cisco and networking courses.

Understanding basics is the key to successful application of the concepts. Unless a strong foothold is obtained in basic concepts, it is impossible to climb higher. As technocrats, Remotraining is one of the few companies to understand the demands of the industry and have design courses to fulfil any demand.

With the world economy looking up after a dull period, there is expansion in a lot of areas and things are starting to look up. Further, with the rise of the Internet, network engineers are in much demand. Cisco and other networking certifications can act as additional tools of empowerment for individuals looking to scale higher peaks or make a fresh foray into the industry.

However, networking can also be extremely complicated, if not approached correctly. The founders of Remotraining observed this gap during their time in the industry and hit upon an idea to bridge the same. With this intent in mind, they decided to offer something of value, yet differentiated from the crowd. This passion led them to design and test courses. They have achieved a 90% success rate with their remote training programs. Everything right from lab access to interaction with the trainers is remote. The total involvement and commitment of the founders is what has helped us achieve enviable results.

The main driver behind the success is the lucid flow of the program and the seamless methods. All that is required for a student is a stable Internet connection, by means of which they enter the absolutely faultless world of Remotraining. Having pioneered this concept, Remotraining offers an excellent place for collaboration and collective learning.

Online CCNA training and remote training in networking concepts is still in its infancy and many fear the same for lack of quality and for myriad other reasons. Remotraining essentially works to dispel such notions. Their courses are great in content and value and they also have a money-back policy. Satisfaction is most important to them and hence students keep coming back.

Drones in Singapore Restaurants Can Leave Waiters Penniless

Cancunlemond.jpg
Singapore, May 04, 2016 /PressReleaseCircle/ -- In Singapore, the Timbre restaurants use drones as waiters. Flying drones deliver food and drinks to the tables of visitors.

Unmanned robots are controlled by a computer program and are oriented in space using infrared sensors. Additionally, each of them is equipped with cameras, and the screws are protected by gratings.

Implementation of a robot was decided due to lack of staff in the industry. Currently, waiter’s deficit in the country is about 7000 people. It is noted that the local youth is not committed to working in restaurants due to low salaries.

"We have serious problems with the labor force due to changes in the foreign policy of the state. Many restaurants in Singapore do not have enough staff. We realized that the delivery of orders take a lot of time. This affects the quality of customer service. It is simply impossible to catch a waiter, they are constantly running back and forth, "- told the International Business Times restaurant manager.
Edward Chia, managing a network of restaurants Timbre Group, which employs 90 waiters, said that drones will reduce the number of staff in institutions of up to 40 people.

As a result, Timbre, contact local startup company Infinium-Serve, offering drones and software to them. They have developed and implemented a system using the anti-collision algorithms, allowing the operators to manage a staff of drones. It is worth noting that the drones don’t fly over the heads of clients, they just repeat the route of waiters. This should improve the safety of their use.

By Timbre it is estimated that the use of unmanned aerial vehicles will increase the restaurant's performance by 25 percent. To transfer part of the routine work of the machines, people will be able to improve their professional skills, moving up the career ladder, say restaurateurs. By the end of the year, flying drones will appear in all Timbre network restaurants in Singapore.

It is noted that it will be impossible to get rid of staff, since the drones can only deliver the food - the waiters still have to arrange meals.

Singapore's government has set for the country an ambitious goal - to become the world's first "intelligent nation", so the development of innovation and venture capital system is considered to be a priority. The authorities encourage the education of its own citizens, attract to work talented foreign scientists which are actively developing innovation infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for investment in innovative projects and co-investment schemes are adopting high-tech start-ups.

Singapore became the center of the development of biotechnology, electronics, medical technology and pharmaceuticals. In Singapore, a lot of high-tech innovative products appear every year thanks to new startups and ideas flow. Nowadays, there is no better place for business incorporation.

If you are thinking about incorporation foreign company in Singapore, Cancunlemond is number one incorporation service. Lot of satisfied clients, lot of experience, high qualification and knowledge of the business speak for itself.
