Health Dangers of Raccoon Feces (Poop)

Deposited raccoon feces (poop) are very likely to contain roundworm eggs that can be hazardous to human health. The adult stage of the raccoon roundworm (Baylisascaris procyonis) lives in the raccoon's intestine and produces microscopic eggs that are shed in the raccoon's feces. One raccoon roundworm can produce more than 100,000 eggs a day. A raccoon can pass millions of eggs in its feces everyday, depending on how many worms are in its intestines. Once deposited in the environment, the eggs develop into the infectious form in 2-4 weeks, and can survive in the soil for several years.

If these infectious eggs are inadvertently swallowed by humans, other mammals, or birds, larvae (immature stage of worms) hatch out of the eggs and move into the organs of the body. The larvae travel throughout the body and may cause serious eye disease, spinal cord or brain damage, or death. Discouraging raccoons from living around people and cleaning up raccoon latrines reduces the chance that people will get sick from raccoon roundworms.

Mold Experts Fry and Taylor Offer Ten 2014 New Year's Mold Health Resolutions for Home and Work

Certified Environmental Hygienists Phillip Fry and Hank Taylor recommend their top ten 2014 New Year’s mold and environmental health resolutions for homeowners, tenants, and workers in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

Montrose, MI, December 26, 2013 -- Mold consultants and Certified Environmental Hygienists Phillip Fry and Hank Taylor suggest that property owners, occupants, and employees in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia make and implement their choice of these top ten 2014 New Year’s mold and environmental health resolutions.

”My New Year’s mold and environmental health resolutions for 2014 are that I will…”
1. Observe myself, family members, and co-workers on a regular basis for any of the top 100 mold health symptoms and mold illnesses listed at http://www.moldinspector.com/.

2. Investigate my residence and workplace roof, attic, siding, walls, ceilings, floors, basement, crawl space, and heating/cooling system carefully for any visible signs of water leaks, water damage, and mold or bacterial growth that can endanger my family or co-workers’ health.

3. Use a professional moisture meter to touch and sweep over the entire floors and walls of my home and workplace bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and utility room walls and floors to locate concealed water problems which can allow mold and bacteria to grow.

4. Make sure that my home’s dryer vent, kitchen exhaust vent, and bathroom exhaust vent take the moist air directly to the outdoors and not into the inside of the attic, crawl space, basement, walls, or floors of my home or workplace. High humidity in such areas can cause toxic mold growth.

5. Hire a Certified Mold Inspector from http://www.certifiedmoldinspectors.com/ for the thorough and complete mold inspection and mold testing of my residence, car, and at work.

6. Run one or more high-capacity HEPA and activated carbon-filtered air purifiers in my bedroom and other home living areas, and also in my workplace, to vacuum out and trap airborne mold spores, mold mycotoxins, germs, and other airborne pollutants from the air I, my family, and my work associates breathe.

7. Use do-it-myself water test kits (available at a large hardware, home improvement, or safety store, or online) to test my home and workplace drinking water for bacterial contamination, arsenic, and lead, regardless of whether the water is city-supplied or from a private well or spring.

8. Use do-it-myself lead test kits to check my older home or workplace for the possible presence of dangerous lead paint. Easy-to-use 3M brand lead test kits are available at www.buildingmoldinspection.com/lead_testing.htm.

9. Check for elevated levels of radon gas exposure in my home or workplace basement and/or ground floor with do-it-myself radon tests available online.

10. Test with E. coli test kits my home and office computer keyboard, TV remote control, bathroom fixtures and surfaces, kitchen appliances and surfaces, and other surfaces for E. coli bacterial contamination. Test kits are available online.

Mold Consultants Fry and Taylor Report the Top Dozen Things Your Mold Removal Company Won’t Tell You

Mold expert Phillip Fry warns about the top dozen mold remediation problems and issues that mold removal service companies keep from their customers.

Montrose, MI, December 26, 2013 -- Because dangerous toxic mold growth is present and often hidden in at least half of the homes and workplaces in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, it is particularly disastrous that many mold removal and cleanup firms won’t tell you these twelve things about themselves and the mold remediation of your residence or commercial building, according to mold consultant Phillip Fry, webmaster of the mold information websites http://www.moldinspector.com/ and www.buildingmoldinspection.com, and Certified Mold Remediator Hank Taylor, who does mold inspection and remediation throughout southeast Asia.

1. Almost all mold remediation attempts fail to find and safely remove of all of the actual mold growth that is often hard-to-find and very widespread in multiple locations in homes and workplaces.

As a result, if “clearance” mold inspection and mold testing is done (after the mold remediation project is supposedly completed) by a qualified, independent Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Environmental Hygienist, or Professional Industrial Hygienist, such clearance testing often finds and documents high levels of remaining and unhealthy toxic airborne mold spores in room air and the outward air flow from heating/cooling air supply ducts, as well as unremoved mold growth on and inside building walls, ceilings, floors, heating/cooling equipment and ducts, crawl spaces, basements, and attics.

2. Many poorly-executed mold remediation jobs actually make a building’s mold problems bigger and worse by spreading the mold growth infestation everywhere through out the entire residence or building and its heating/cooling equipment and ducts because many mold removal companies fail to: (a) install properly-installed plastic sheeting mold job containment walls; (b) create sufficient negative air pressure inside the contained mold work area with large high output air scrubbers that have both an industrial HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter to remove both mold spores and mold mycotoxins VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from the air inside the mold work area as well as the entire residence or building; and (c) use professionally-trained, fully-supervised employees who don’t take shortcuts from an established as effective mold removal protocol, such as posted at www.moldinspector.com/mold_removal.htm.

3. Most mold removal service company owners, supervisors, and employees have not received sufficient, thorough, professional, and complete training and certification to be effective and successful-in-results mold remediators.

4. Many mold removal companies are unlicensed because mold remediators are licensed only in five states in the USA: Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, and Texas, and there is no mold remediator licensing outside of the USA.

5. Most mold remediators have not agreed to abide by a strict, professional code of ethics, such as required of the mold remediator graduates of the Environmental Hygienist Association’s www.ecology-college.com training and certification program for Certified Mold Inspectors, Certified Mold Remediators, and Certified Environmental Hygienists.

6. Most mold removal companies only remove part of a home or workplace’s actual and often-hidden mold infestation because the company’s staff members fail to do a thorough and complete physical examination of a home or building for water and mold problems that may be hidden anywhere, and possibly everywhere, inside walls, ceilings, floors, attics, basements, crawl spaces, and heating/cooling equipment and ducts.

7. The careful physical mold inspection and mold testing of the house, office, or other commercial building must include using a high-quality, professional moisture meter to check for elevated levels of moisture in all room floors, basement floor, crawl space walls, attic floor and ceiling, and the floors and walls of all rooms that have plumbing such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry. In addition, the inspector should use a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity of each room and building area.

8. Mold victims should hire a mold remediation company that did not do the initial mold inspection because most mold inspectors have a huge conflict of interest because they also sell and provide expensive mold removal and mold remediation services.

9. Because of that real conflict of interest, mold inspectors have a big incentive to do their mold inspections and mold testing in ways that distort, misrepresent, over-state, and/or exaggerate their mold growth findings.
10. Two ways to help resolve that big conflict of interest are: (a) the property owner, manager, or tenant should inform prospective mold inspectors that the mold inspector will be hired only to do the initial mold inspection and testing plus any required clearance testing after any discovered mold problems have been removed and remediated by an independent mold removal company that is unrelated to the mold inspector doing both the initial and clearance mold inspection and testing; and (b) pay for a “second opinion” by paying for a thorough mold inspection and testing by a second mold inspector unrelated to the first inspector.

11. Doing only the inspector-popular, customary testing of the air for the possible presence of elevated levels of mold species does not give a true picture of the total and actual mold status of a home or building compared to doing both air testing and testing horizontal surfaces in the building---surfaces such as the top side of kitchen cabinets, lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, window trim, door trim, and out of the way carpeting that is rarely vacuumed. Such horizontal surfaces are the location of accumulated landed mold spores, which are more valuable and predictive than air testing to know the existence and severity of mold problems.

12. Taking only one or a few mold air tests and surface sampling tests is insufficient and inadequate to know the true extent of mold infestation in a building. Mold testing should be done in at least the following locations: (a) outdoor mold control air test done at least six feet beyond the roof drip edge; (b) air test of the outward air flow from each separate heating/cooling system that operates in the home or building; (c) air tests of the air in several key rooms such as living room, bedrooms, kitchen, basement, crawl space, and attic.

To schedule professional mold inspection and mold remediation in most areas of the USA and Ontario Province of Canada, with mold consultants Phillip and Divine Fry of EnviroFry, email them phil@moldinspector.com or phone toll-free 1-866-300-1616 or cell phone 1-480-310-7970, or visit their website www.moldexpertconsultants.com.

Toronto, Canada, December 25, 2013 -- A baby’s first year is filled with endless milestones, proud parental moments and so many firsts that no parent or loved one wants to forget. Mark each unique occasion with Milestone Baby Cards, launching this January at the Toronto Gift Fair booth #11513 Hall 11 (Congress Centre).

Milestone_Baby_Cards.jpg

These unique development cards are designed to celebrate all the milestones of a baby’s first year through creative photographs. Those first steps, her eight-week-old birthday and his first tooth are precious moments we all want to remember. Place each event card next to your baby to timestamp a photo in a memorable way.

Dutch mom Gemma Broekhuis came up with the idea when she decided to capture the moment her son Mikkel rolled over for his first time. She realized how quickly we can forget these moments and how unique these photos with her specially designed cards proved to be. Wanting other parents to share the delight of these time-recorded photos, Broekhuis decided to create Milestone Baby Cards and with distribution in over 22 countries, the rest is history.

“Baby’s grow and change so quickly,” says Michael Glina, managing director of 2 blue ducks, Canadian distributor. “These hand-designed developmental cards are the perfect way to mark each milestone in your baby’s life. If you have friends or relatives who live out of town or the country, Milestone Baby Cards are the best way to share these precious moments.”

Winner of the Baby Innovation Award 2013 in the Netherlands, nominated for the K+J Innovation Award in Germany and recipient of highly commended award for the Junior Design Award 2013 in the U.K., Milestone Baby Cards are making waves across the globe and 2 blue ducks is beyond excited to welcome them into Canada.

Award Winning Indie Author Wants to Donate First Million to Charity

Kirkus Best Indie featured author Graham Parke uses yearly event to raise money for CHI.

Netherlands, December 23, 2013 -- Author Graham Parke announced the start of an international literary event today. With the help of book bloggers and related social media he aims to raise money for charity this December.

“Each year I hold an event during which I give out books and prizes,” stated Mr. Parke. “This year I thought it’d be fun to donate the proceeds as well. So, all December, the proceeds of my novels go to Child Helpline International. The CHI supports toll-free child helplines and highlights gaps in child protection systems.”

Completely_Flappable.jpg
Since his fiction debut in 2010, Mr. Parke’s quirky, off-beat novels have garnered an impressive list of awards and nominations, and have earned him a spot on the Kirkus Best Indie list of 2011. Dubbed extremely witty and clever by the California Chronicle, a movie based on his debut, “No Hope for Gomez!’ is currently in development.

Responses from book bloggers to the event have been inspiring, causing them to queue up to spread the word via a specially designed guest post.

“I’ve often wondered how many of the world’s problems we could solve permanently if everybody set one month of income aside to fix this place up,” Mr. Parke continued. “I have no idea how to get that ball rolling, I'm not even sure where we keep the balls, but I can certainly start with myself.”

Participants in the event receive Parke’s latest novel, “Completely Flappable” for free. It serves as a prequel to the award winning “No Hope for Gomez!”

“I understand it’s not easy for people to give up an entire month of income,” Mr. Parke stated. “It hurts. But a little hurt in the present could save a lot of hurt in the future, so I really hope this catches on. A Million seems like a longshot, but there’s always last minute Christmas shopping.”

Praise for Graham Parke’s novels:

“Extremely witty and clever writing that contains keen insights into human nature.” California Chronicle
“Challenges our perceptions about how we think of, and interact with, the world around us.” Kirkus Discoveries

“The antics in this book will leave the reader laughing. Graham Parke is a genius.” Readers Favorite

Meet Yoolod - the First Point-of-view Interactive Video Service

Yoolod, the first Internet service of its kind which enables users to control their chosen live avatars in order to participate in a variety of games, social and other events or exploring places worldwide, was launched today in London.

Chelmsford, December 22, 2013 -- Yoolod, the world's first point-of-view interactive HD video service for online gaming and social interaction, was launched today in London. It is the first Internet service of its kind which enables users to control their chosen live avatars in order to participate in a variety of games, social and other events or exploring places worldwide. Yoolod's Avatars are equipped with an HD POV camera mounted at their eye level which makes you see exactly what they see, and a headphone which allows you to voice-control their actions. Avatars could be anyone; People playing games, street performers, people at parties, in business meetings, etc.

Yoolod is available on http://www.yoolod.com.

First game offered by Yoolod is a Texas Hold'em game and it provides users with a real person (Avatar) controlled by the user's microphone. This real time experience gives users an opportunity to control their live player that is sitting at the table playing by their commands. The table has a maximum of seven players playing at the same time and the eighth person, a croupier. Since users can see the entire game process and activities on the table, they are at all times secure that all processes are correct and that there is no possibility of manipulation. Money used for playing is called Yoolars with a conversion rate towards a USD of 1/10.

Yoolod is going to introduce new events shortly, some of which are even going to be completely free. Voyeur mode will also be introduced to applicable events soon, so that users can only watch what an Avatar is doing under someone else's control.

Yoolod service works on a platform that has been developed from scratch to bring users the experience of controlling another live person. The platform itself can be used for other purposes as well, as its task is connecting two or more people from anywhere in the world with one-way point-of-view HD video and two-way audio.

Yoolod is the first product released by Yoolod Ltd, a company founded in the United Kingdom in 2013. The company's mission is to set a new standard in online gaming and interactive services market. New products by Yoolod Ltd, based on the same platform, are set to be released in 2014.

Dancer Earns World First PhD - In Burlesque!

One of the world's top tier burlesque dancers has become the first to perform the vintage art for a Doctorate of Philosophy

Lola_The_Vamp.jpg
Qld, Australia, December 18, 2013 -- Lola The Vamp has become the first dancer to perform the art of burlesque for her PhD in a project lauded as 'showing real bravery and originality'. Her acts, famed for referencing both burlesque history and high arts, were an integral part of her degree submission, 'working at a very advanced level and developing practice skills with originality and sophistication'. She graduates with no revisions required - a rare coup in academia. 'By going beyond the exploitation/empowerment binary and placing her work in the aesthetic discipline required for a number of traditional forms (mask, ballet, bodily inscription, the manipulation of fetishes, the candidate moves the discussion about burlesque along and places it deep in our growing understanding of performance as a dynamic interplay between communicative craft and audience expectation'.

Lola has been performing burlesque since her debut as an auditionee for Dita Von Teese in 2002. She pioneered the return of the vintage art in her home country of Australia and regularly headlines the world's top burlesque events. Lola supported Nick Cave and Grinderman on their 2007 Australian tour. Nick Cave described her show as 'beautiful'. The Age described her shows as possessing 'a highly developed aesthetic and a sly wit, super sexy without ever being tawdry, Lola is in a league of her own'.

Her PhD comprised of a written thesis and a creative component which included her performances. These combined creative degrees are relatively new for post-graduate degrees. Two independent assessors from different universities gave their feedback on the submission.

Of course, now the central question is, what DID she west beneath her graduation gown? Winkeyface.

Mold Expert Phillip Fry Reports 10 Things Mold Inspectors Won’t Tell You

Mold consultant Phillip Fry warns about ten mold inspection problems and issues that mold inspectors don’t tell their clients.

Montrose, MI, December 17, 2013 -- Because toxic mold growth in a home or workplace is very dangerous to occupant health, it is especially unfortunate that many mold inspectors won’t tell you these 10 things about themselves and the mold inspection of your residence or commercial building, according to mold expert Phillip Fry, webmaster of the mold information websites http://www.moldinspector.com/ and http://www.buildingmoldinspection.com/.

1. Most mold inspectors have not received sufficient, thorough, and complete training and certification to be effective and professional-quality mold inspectors.

2. Most mold inspectors are unlicensed because mold inspectors are licensed only by five states: Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, and Texas.

3. Many mold inspectors have not agreed to abide by a strict Code of Ethics, such as required of the mold inspector graduates of the Environmental Hygienist Association’s http://www.ecology-college.com/ training and certification program for Certified Mold Inspectors, Certified Mold Remediators, and Certified Environmental Hygienists.

4. Most mold inspectors fail to do a thorough and complete physical examination of a home or building for water and mold problems that may be hidden inside walls, ceilings, floors, attics, basements, crawl spaces, and heating/cooling equipment and ducts.

5. The careful physical mold inspection of the house or workplace must include using a high-quality, professional moisture meter to check for elevated levels of moisture in all room floors, basement floor, crawl space walls, attic floor and ceiling, and the floors and walls of all rooms that have plumbing such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry. In addition, the inspector should use a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity of each room and building area.

6. Most mold inspectors have a huge conflict of interest because they also sell and provide expensive mold removal and mold remediation services.

7. Because of that conflict of interest, mold inspectors have a big incentive to conduct their inspections and testing in ways that misrepresent, over-state, and/or exaggerate their mold findings.

8. One way to help resolve that big conflict of interest is to for the property owner, manager, or tenant to inform prospective mold inspectors know that the inspector will be hired only to do the initial mold inspection and testing plus any required clearance testing after any discovered mold problems have been removed and remediated by an independent mold removal company that is unrelated to the mold inspector doing both the initial and clearance mold inspection and testing.

Environmental Hygienist Explains 10 Steps To Kill Indoor Insects with High Output Ozone Gas

Phillip Fry, Certified Environmental Hygienist and Certified Ozone Professional, recommends ten steps for the effective killing of indoor dust mites, bedbugs, cockroaches, and other insects with the use of high output ozone gas from an ozone generator.

Montrose, MI, December 14, 2013 -- Killing indoor insect pests such as dust mites, bedbugs, and cockroaches is best done with high output ozone gas properly applied, according to Phillip Fry, Certified Environmental Hygienist and Certified Ozone Professional.

“High output ozone gas is much safer for human occupants and their pets than the use of the toxic chemical pesticides that often leave an unhealthy product residue inside pesticide-treated homes, offices, and workplaces,” notes Mr. Fry, who includes the following ten steps to kill indoor insects with ozone gas on the EnviroFry website www.ozonegeneratorkillsmold.com ---

1. Ozone gas is a regular, two oxygen atom molecule (0²) to which an extra oxygen atom has been temporarily added by the ozone generator to create a three oxygen atom molecule, (ozone gas) (0³). This extra oxygen atom gives the molecule its ozone gas a very effective and powerful oxidizing power to kill insects, mold spores, mold growth, and odors such as pet odors and smoking odors.

Ozone gas is regularly utilized by hospitals to sanitize hospital rooms and operating rooms. Ozone gas is also rapidly replacing chlorine gas as the preferred process to disinfect swimming pool and public whirlpool spa water.

2. No people, pets, or live plants can be inside the ozone-treated house, condo, apartment, workplace, or commercial or governmental building during the lengthy ozone treatment time sessions, or for two hours afterwards. Bug-killing ozone gas returns to normal oxygen in about 30 to 45 minutes after turning off the ozone generator.

3. So that ozone gas can reach all areas and surfaces in which the insects can hide, take preparatory steps such as, but not limited to: (a) leave dresser drawers, bathroom vanity drawers, kitchen cabinet doors and drawers, and office desk and filing cabinet drawers open about two to four inches; (b) remove all rugs from the floor and hang them on portable clothes drying racks so that the ozone gas can treat both sides of the hanging rugs as well as the now exposed flooring beneath where the rugs usually placed; (c) remove and discard all accumulated newspapers, magazines, trash, and wastebasket contents to outdoor trash bins or containers; (d) open closet doors and drawers; (e) thoroughly clean and vacuum all floors and upholstered furniture and the entire house or building; and (f) put clothes on hangers two inches apart to allow ozone treatment on both sides of the hanging clothes.

4. Protect your electrical and electronic possessions against any potential damage from lengthy ozone treatment sessions by: (a) taping over (with wide masking tape) all exposed rubber and vinyl items like the rubber gaskets of refrigerators and freezers; and (2) removing all electronic items such as computers, TVs, music systems, etc., from the building or covering such items with plastic sheeting taped tight to keep the ozone from getting into or onto the protected equipment.

5. Close all windows and doors except for leaving one window (located relatively close to the running ozone generator) open about two to four inches high to provide a source of fresh air for the ozone generator to turn into ozone gas.

6. Leave the heating/cooling system off during the ozone treatment sessions except when doing ozone treatment into the inside of the home or building’s heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and ducts, in which case, run the HVAC system on fan ventilation only (no heating or cooling) to help move the heavy ozone gas throughout the HVAC ducts and the entire house or building.

7. Use the high output (28,000 mg. of ozone output per hour) contractor model Bio3Blaster (available at www.ozonegeneratorkillsmold.com) because indoor insect killing requires massive amounts of ozone gas for extended time periods, such as at least eight hours into the return air duct of the operating HVAC system, plus at least eight hours inside each separate room or area of the house, including the basement, crawl space, and attic. If necessary, do additional ozone treatment sessions daily for several days in a row to make sure all insects, mold spores, and exposed mold growth are dead.

8. When doing ozone treatment of each room or area, use two large box fans placed close to the outward ozone gas flow to move the ozone both vertically and horizontally to counteract the natural tendency of the heavier-than-air ozone gas to fall to the floor.

9. Use the General Electric timer or its remote control on-off switch (that is provided with the EnviroFry ozone generator) to turn remotely turn the ozone generator off and on.

10. During the ozone treatment time session, do not enter into the treatment area without wearing a 3M brand breathing respirator with VOC filters and rated P100 (minimizes your breathing in of ozone), about $40 from a large home improvement or hardware store.

Environmental Hygienist Phillip Fry Asks “Are You Sick from Living or Working in Toxic Mold?”

Mold expert Phillip Fry warns that chronically-ill patients may be sick as the direct result of living or working in elevated levels of toxic mold infestation.

Montrose, MI, December 13, 2013 -- “Across the USA, Canada, Asia, and worldwide, hundreds of millions of very sick people are unknowingly very ill because they are living or working in both visible and often hidden-from-view toxic mold growth,” reports Phillip Fry, mold expert, Certified Environmental Hygienist, Certified Mold Inspector, author of the book Mold Health Guide, and webmaster of the mold health information websites www.moldinspector.com, www.workplacemold.com, and www.airconditionermold.com.

“Although mold-sensitive individuals can readily experience serious health difficulties after only a few hours to a few days of being in a mold-infested residence, workplace, or hotel, most people will ultimately suffer one or more of the top 100 mold health problems if they are continually exposed to elevated levels of mold at home, at work, or in their automobile,” warns Mr. Fry.

People differ significantly in their sensitivity and health reaction to mold exposure. Thus, while only one or a few household members or employees may be initially sick from toxic mold exposure, eventually the sick count will rise, sometimes very dramatically. In one small north Georgia workplace, six employees eventually died from the illnesses caused by their working for years in their mold-contaminated office.

Prolonged exposure to mold infestation cause such serious medical problems as chronic fatigue-like symptoms; immune suppression; central nervous system dysfunction (vertigo, memory failure, irritability, concentration, and verbal dysfunction); gastro-intestinal tract, heart, liver, and kidney damage; and even cancer (caused by carcinogenic mold mycotoxins), according to E. Johanning, M.D. and P. Landsgergis, Ph.D., in their medical textbook Clinical Findings Related to Indoor Fungal Exposure.

A Mayo Clinic research study discovered that ninety percent of all chronic sinusitis patients developed serious sinus problems from living or working in a moldy environment.

A comprehensive list of the top 100 mold health symptoms and mold illnesses is published on Mr. Fry’s website www.moldexpertconsultants.com.

“To know if their health problems may be mold-caused or mold-worsened, chronically ill individuals should ask their attending physician to collect a blood sample for lab analysis for mold antibodies in the mold victim’s blood. Prolonged exposure to mold infestation will cause one’s body to produce a different blood antibody for each different mold species growing in one’s body, in the body’s attempt to defend against the mold invasion. The lab report will detail each separate mold species antibody found in the blood testing,” advises Mr. Fry.

“At the same time, chronically-ill persons should hire a Certified Environmental Hygienist or Certified Mold Inspector to do a thorough, in depth mold inspection and testing of their home, workplace, and inside their car to discover if there are elevated levels of both visible mold growth and mold hidden inside walls, ceilings, floors, attics, basements, crawl spaces, and heating/cooling equipment and ducts,” recommends Mr. Fry, whose Michigan-based, international company EnviroFry does mold inspection and mold remediation nationwide in the USA, Ontario Province of Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

For free answers to your mold questions or to schedule an EnviroFry mold inspection or mold remediation anywhere in the world, please email Mr. Fry phil@moldinspector.com or phone toll-free 1-866-300-1616 (USA and Canada), or his cell phone 1-480-310-7970 (good also for calls from outside of the USA).

Logo Contest Site 48hourslogo.com Launches Redesigned Website With New Elite Designer Option

To accompany their newly redesigned logo, 48hourslogo launches a new website design. Also included in the update is a new Elite Designer feature that allows the top ranking designers an added incentive on more complex projects.

Atlanta, GA, December 12, 2013 -- December 3, 2013 saw the launch of a redesigned 48hourslogo.com. The redesigned logo contest website featured an updated logo and a large photo graphic, a stronger emphasis was placed on the opportunity for starting a contest at just $29. This unique price point allows clients to see what creative designs are submitted before paying the minimum $70 prize and 15% hosting fee. The homepage also highlights 48hourslogo.com’s personal statistics, such as having over 15,000 happy customers and over one million logos submitted by their design community.

48hourslogo.jpg

The new logo was created by one of their in house logo designers, boybud40. His design was selected out of 162 designs and over 62 of his fellow designers. This logo design features a stylized clock in place of the “o” in “Hours,” with a warm orange and bright silver color combination. “Simplicity is what I was looking for. Noon or midnight is a good time for a date, that’s how I chose the placement of the hands on the clock,” says boybud40. 48hourslogo.com has not had a new logo design since they started, the previous design created by studioart three years ago.

Elite Designer Option

Despite the thousands of satisfied customers, there are still contests in which the logo submissions are not quite what the contest holder is looking for. To help ensure total customer satisfaction, the Elite Designer Option was created. This allows anyone holding a contest with 48hourslogo.com to order a number of new logo concepts from a list of Elite Designers for $10 each.

The Elite Designer list is compiled from the performance of their Design Community in the past three months. Total earnings, number of wins, and success rate all factor into making it onto the list. Once a number of Elite Designer submissions are ordered, those on the list can participate in the contest for the extra cash. The $10 prize is awarded only after they have read over the contest brief carefully and submitted a quality design.

eLearning to Re-energize Corporate Training Programs

Dan Strongin of managenaturally.com, has teamed up with Coggno.com, a leading online learning management system provider, to publish powerful and pragmatic eLearning resources for Corporate Training Programs, and Entrepreneurs.

December 12, 2013 (USA and Brazil.) Today, Dan Strongin, ASQ CMQ/OE, announced he is publishing eLearning tutorials on Coggno.com, to address the need for relevant, effective, experienced-based training methods for corporate training programs. These classes, available 24/7 on desktop, laptop and other mobile devices, offer a surprisingly effective alternative to the mass-market fare featured on most eLearning websites.

Coggno.png
In an ever changing and increasingly mobile business environment, Entrepreneurs, HR and Corporate Training Managers need online training and development resources that yield effective results. Seeing the opportunity for relevant, reality-tested eLearning solutions, Dan Strongin, a long time consultant and strategic marketing guru for State Marketing Boards and Value Added Businesses, has formulated an online training method that goes beyond compliance, academic indoctrination, and marketing flash to provide immediate bottom line relief through time-tested, pragmatic and effective solutions for real world business problems.

“Too many eLearning resources for corporate training programs are furnished by people with very little real world business experience, so they end up teaching 19th century solutions for 21st century problems,” Mr. Strongin says, ”things the business community have long since abandoned.”

The first course is free! “Income Statement Secrets Revealed” is a primer on the most important financial statements, but not for accountants. It is for those who operate and manage the business. It covers what is required by the GAAP, the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, which is surprisingly little, as well as the pitfalls that lie in wait when you use a financial report to provide you with the information you need to operate a business, including: flawed averages, misleading percentages and limited comparisons

At about an hour of video in seven short training modules, it is the prerequisite for the in depth course “How to “Visualize” Reports to Better Understand, Predict and Manage”, with more than 5 hours of video and other documents, in 33 short training modules, available in either a 3 month or 12 month license. This course teaches how to master data trapped In rows and columns, transforming it into multi-dimensional visual reports that provide deep context for instant actionable understanding of what matters.

“In-depth, the two combined teach all you need to know to master the secret of presenting data visually, revealing the meaning, in context, in minutes,” Mr. Strongin adds, “Having been there, and done that for decades, I stay away from what doesn’t work, to focus on what does: The secrets few people know about, that drive some of the most profitable companies in the world.

Next courses will include Strategic Marketing, Leadership, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Predictive Statistics, Shelf Management and Merchandising for Retail, the Tools of Quality, and Creating a Production System that Works, among others, including a 24 course, programmatic training program for supervisory development, based on the training developed by the Department of Defense during and after the Second World War.

Ecology College Offers Free Mold Removal Training & Certification with Paid Mold Inspector Course

The Environmental Hygienists Association and Ecology College announce free training and certification for the professional designation Certified Mold Remediator for students who enroll in paid training and certification as a Certified Mold Inspector by December 31, 2013.

Montrose, MI, December 11, 2013 -- Ecology College and the Environmental Hygienists Association announce the availability of free training and certification for the professional designation Certified Mold Remediator when the student enrolls and pays the $299 training and certification fee for the separate Certified Mold Inspector course by December 31, 2013.

A Certified Mold Inspector inspects and investigates homes, commercial buildings, and public buildings to find, test, and document both visible mold and hidden mold problems. A Certified Mold Remediator removes both visible and hidden mold growth safely and effectively by utilizing mold consultant Phillip Fry’s proven ten step mold removal protocol that is explained at www.moldinspector.com/mold_removal.htm.

Mold inspector and mold remediator training is available online nationwide in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, as well as in person classroom instruction in at the college’s environmental training center in Montrose, Michigan, to which half of the population in the USA and Canada can drive in one or two days.

Mold training instructors are Phillip and Divine Fry, both of whom are Certified Environmental Hygienists, Professional Industrial Hygienists, Certified Mold Inspectors, Certified Mold Remediators, and Certified Ozone Professionals.

Phillip Fry is the author of five mold ebooks, which are provided free as part of the online mold training program: (1) Mold Health Guide; (2) Mold Legal Guide; (3) Mold Monsters; (4) Mold Inspection, Testing, Remediation, and Prevention; and (5) Mold Home Remedy Recipes. “The marketplace for professional mold inspection, testing, and remediation is multi-billion dollar in size in the USA and Canada because at least half of all homes and commercial buildings have a significant toxic mold infestation, which is often unknown to property owners and occupants because health-destroying mold growth is often hidden inside walls, ceilings, floors, attics, crawl spaces, and heating/cooling equipment and ducts,” according to Mr. Fry, who has been a mold inspector and mold remediator since 1999 in the USA, Canada, and Asia.

USA Book News recognizes historical fiction author Jessica James in the 2013 USA Best Book Awards

USA Book News, the premier online magazine featuring mainstream and independent publishing houses, announced the winners and finalists of The 2013 USA Best Book Awards on November 14.

Gettysburg, PA, December 09, 2013 -- USA Book News, the premier online magazine featuring mainstream and independent publishing houses, announced the winners and finalists of THE 2013 USA BEST BOOK AWARDS on November 14. Historical fiction author Jessica James is among the elite group named as a Finalist in the Fiction/Religious category for her latest Civil War novel Above and Beyond.

Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of USA Book News, said this year’s contest yielded over 1,500 entries from mainstream and independent publishers.

Above and Beyond is the romantic tale of two people thrown together by war and torn apart by destiny. Released in July, 2013, it received a favorable review from Publisher’s Weekly, the book industry’s top trade magazine, and hit #1 on the Amazon bestseller list in the Christian Historical Fiction category.

"The publishing industry has come a long way since I independently published my first book in 2008," James said. "It is gratifying to see that books published by authors can compete, win, and be recognized alongside those of traditional publishing houses."

James, who won the John Esten Cooke Award for Southern Fiction for her last Civil War novel Noble Cause, is well known for her ability to describe the emotions and turmoil of the period, and for her expertise in blending romance with historical fiction. Her books have been compared to Gone with the Wind and Cold Mountain, and are widely read and enjoyed by men and women in both the historical fiction and romance genres.

Called “a real page-turner,” and “attention grabbing,” Above and Beyond is about a Confederate cavalry commander who discovers that faith is more important than glory—and love more important than life. Destined for an honored place among the classics of the American Civil War, Above and Beyond is a book to read, and keep, and remember forever.

Major publishing houses that contributed to this year’s USA BEST BOOK AWARDS competition include St. Martin’s Press, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Penguin, John Wiley & Sons, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Hay House, and Llewellyn Worldwide.

Author Bio: Jessica James is a former newspaper editor who spent 18 years in a newsroom before turning her attention to writing fiction. Her novel Above and Beyond hit #1 in the Christian Historical Fiction category on Amazon, and her last novel Noble Cause is the recipient of the coveted John Esten Cooke Award for Southern Fiction among other national awards. She resides in Gettysburg, Pa., and is featured in the book 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading, published in 2010. GREEN CREATIVE MR16 7W High CRI lamp is the first and only LED Accelerator Program Tier 2 qualified MR16

GREEN CREATIVE, the commercial grade LED lighting manufacturer proudly announces its MR16 7W High CRI lamp as being the only Tier 2 qualified MR16 lamp in the Energy Solutions LED Accelerator Program in California.

Burlingame, CA, December 09, 2013 -- GREEN CREATIVE, the commercial grade LED lighting manufacturer proudly announces its MR16 7W High CRI lamp as being the only Tier 2 qualified MR16 lamp in the Energy Solutions LED Accelerator Program in California.

GREEN_CREATIVE_LEDA_MR16_High_CRI_LEDMAG.jpg
Featuring a typical CRI 95, R9 95 and R13 95, the MR16 7W High CRI lamp is perfect for applications that demand excellent color rendering. Unlike most high CRI LEDs, the CRISP SERIES MR16 delivers outstanding color accuracy without sacrificing efficiency. With a typical 465 lumens, this 1:1 halogen form factor lamp has an extremely high 66 LPW efficacy. This is over 50% more efficient than any other high CRI 45-50W replacement MR16. This innovative lamp has already been selected by the Illuminating Engineering Society to appear in the prestigious 2013 Progress Report.

Funded through PG&E, the California LED Accelerator Program (LEDA) works with LED manufacturers and multi-site PG&E customers, primarily in the retail, grocery, restaurant and museum/art gallery sectors, by providing incentives for the replacement of traditional lighting sources with the latest in high-performance LED products. In addition to providing incentives for high-volume retrofit projects, LEDA also offers lighting energy audits, economic analysis, product demonstration, technical product selection, and product specification assistance.

In order to qualify for the LEDA Program, lamps must meet a set of rigorous specification requirements. The lamps are then separated into two tiers, with Tier 2 products achieving a higher performance standard than Tier 1. GREEN CREATIVE has the most qualified products on the PG&E LEDA list, with a combination of ten PAR and MR models.

The MR16 7W High CRI lamp is the only Tier 2 qualified MR16 on the list which features products from over ten participating manufacturers. This lamp exceeds LEDA’s CRI 90 and 50 LPW efficacy requirements, both of which are more stringent than ENERGY STAR. GREEN CREATIVE’S MR16 7W High CRI LEDA qualified lamp model comes in 2700K CCT and a NF beam angle.

“It’s impressive that we have hit the Tier 2 mark with our MR16,” says GREEN CREATIVE’S Utility Program Manager, Erik Bluvas. “The Tier 2 standards were designed to push the market, and I don’t think PG&E expected a manufacturer to reach it so soon. The color quality levels are also exceptional. In my years of field auditing there has always been a strong demand for this, and now GREEN CREATIVE has clearly set itself apart from the competition with this high CRI MR16.”

PG&E presently offers an incentive of $0.17/kWh saved plus $100/peak kW for Tier 1 products. The stricter Tier 2 incentive level is $0.28/kWh saved plus $100/peak kW, making the rebate for the MR16 7W High CRI one of the highest in the country.

Mold Experts Warn Frigid Winter Weather Frequently Causes Toxic Mold in Homes and Commercial Buildings

Mold consultants Phillip and Divine Fry alert property owners that freezing winter weather is a big favor in causing indoor mold growth in houses and workplaces in cold weather climates worldwide.

Montrose, MI, December 07, 2013 -- Mold consultants Phillip and Divine Fry advise that freezing winter weather often causes significant indoor toxic mold growth in northern USA, Canada, United Kingdom, northern Europe, Russia, China, Korea, Japan, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand.
One of the winter-related, mold-making conditions is poor indoor ventilation (because of usually-closed windows and doors) that increases indoor humidity moisture and airborne mold spore counts.

“Good ventilation of a home or commercial building’s attic, living areas, and basement or crawl space helps to keep indoor humidity below the 70% humidity level that is sufficient to enable mold to grow indoors,” according to the Frys, who are Certified Environmental Hygienists, Professional Industrial Hygienists, Certified Mold Inspectors, Certified Mold Remediators, and webmasters of the mold information websites www.moldinspector.com, www.workplacemold.com, and www.moldexpertconsultants.com.

Another big winter factor favoring mold growth is that ice dams often form on the roof surface from the melting and re-freezing of roof snow. Ice dams back up melting snow and thus cause water to run beneath the roof shingles and into attics, ceilings, and wall.

The Frys note that the biggest cause of winter-related mold growth is frozen water pipes that burst and flood into the insides of walls, ceilings, floors, and entire rooms and building floors.

Exposure to elevated levels of toxic mold can cause over 100 different major illnesses, according to Phillip Fry, who is also executive director of www.moldvictimrights.com and author of the mold advice ebook Mold Health Guide, available at www.moldmart.net.

“Toxic mold exposure in residences and workplaces can cause chronic tiredness, headaches, and memory and mental reasoning difficulties, plus the following top twelve mold health problems reported by the U.S. Government's General Accounting Office’s ‘Indoor Mold’ report, which summarized 32 federal government mold studies and reports,” reports Mr. Fry:

1. Asthma, asthma triggers, or asthma symptoms (such as episodes or attacks)
2. Upper respiratory tract symptoms
3. Eye symptoms
4. Skin symptoms
5. Allergies or allergic reactions
6. Wheeze
7. Cough
8. Difficulty breathing, trouble breathing, or shortness of breath
9. Infections (including those affecting people who have chronic lung disease).
10. Adverse effects to the nervous system
11. Fungal colonization or opportunistic infections in immune-compromised individuals and
12. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
